Pretty Ugly: A Double Legacy

Marrying the maid

The vote was unanimous - everybody agreed that Abraham Malory should marry his maid, Nicole.

She's a fortune sim, Gemini, 2/9/4/2/8 - meaning she's outgoing and nice, but serious and sloppy. Her turn-ons are blond hair and fullface make-up (I guess that would be one way of hiding Abe's features), her turn-off fatness, and her LTW is to earn 100,000 simoleons.

Ouch. That looks painful. Well, I'm guessing you don't want to see any details of what happens next, so we'll just discreetly fade to black, okay?

"Since you're pregnant and everything, what do you say we tie the knot?" Abe is such a romantic. Well, Nicole seems happy.

Friendly neighborhood drop-in. Since the Beauregards and the Malorys are the only inhabitants of Sweetwater, every single walk-by is a member of the other family. Miranda is fine - except that she keeps swooning over Abe, which is a little disturbing - but Aidan has a bad habit of walking right in without so much as a knock. I've noticed before that some kinds of NPCs tend to do this; I guess DJs belong on that list, too. It's not really much of a bother, except when he plunders the money tree. These two are fortune sims, they need their cash!

"Sorry, hon, I'd love to stay and watch you give birth to our child, but the car pool is waiting!" As I said - fortune sims. Not that Nicole is much better; after giving birth to little Bethia, she called for the nanny right away, and headed off to her own job.

As always with sims, there's not much you can tell about Bethia's appearance while she's a baby. She has her mother's black hair, but her father's skin tone and dark blue eyes. Other than that, she looks like any sim baby.

Birthday time! Nicole blows out the candles for her daughter, and in a few heartbeats, Bethia goes from this...

To this. She looks like one of those witches in fairy tale illustrations, doesn't she? Or maybe just a troll, plain and simple.

Bethia is a Gemini like her mother, with a fairly similar personality: 2/10/9/2/10. (Sloppy, outgoing, active, serious, and nice.)

She has her mother's eyes and ears, but aside from that it looks like it's all Abe.

"Good job exercising those lungs!" Nicole has a rather unconventional view of child rearing. Did I mention that she's already pregnant again?

Daddy wuvs his little princess, yes he does!

"Hey, what are you looking at?"

Starting a family

It was a pretty close race, but most voters said to marry Aidan the DJ, and save Jace the ugly barista for later. So Miranda invites Aidan Walter over and asks him to move in. He doesn't bring much money, only a few thousand, but with that and Miranda's savings they manage to put a roof over their heads, even if they have to sleep, eat, cook and study all in the same room.

"I, Miranda, take thee, Aidan..." Aidan agrees to change his last name to Beauregard, on the condition that they name their first son Walter. No problem, we can do that. After the ceremony, they both immediately roll up wants to have a baby. Awww. And Aidan wants to woohoo in bed, too. Good to know that this knowledge sim has some idea how things work...

He's a Sagittarius, 3/2/8/7/5 - sloppy, shy, active, playful - with formalwear and swimwear as turn-ons, and custom hair as a turn-off. His LTW is to be a Mad Scientist - just like Miranda. And he wears slob PJs.

So let's get cracking on generation 2! Uh, Miranda, some more enthusiasm please. You love this guy. You want to have his baby - it's right there in your wants panel! And just look how happy he is about the thought of woohooing with you.

In fact, after they did the deed, he rolled up the want to woohoo in bed again, and kept rolling it up. How sweet. Or something.

"I'm starving, yet the thought of food makes me nauseous. I wonder if I'm pregnant?" Wow, for a sim, she's pretty smart!

Miranda is not happy about the whole pregnancy thing. All that sleeping and eating and peeing she has to do gives her less time to gain skills! And it's not getting her any closer to that Mad Scientist position, either.

In fact, while she's pregnant Aidan actually catches up to her, so they're on the same rung of the career ladder.

Look, the paper boy is a miniature Aidan! Well, if his genes get weeded out over the generations, I guess we know how to get them back...

It's a girl! Meet Veronica Beauregard, who has her mother's eyes and skin tone - not surprisingly, since they're custom - and her father's blond hair. She's a sloppy, shy little Sagittarius - 2/2/7/7/8.

"We have a daughter!" Aidan is ecstatic. I'm not sure what's up with the look Miranda is giving him - she can't be blaming him for her labor pains, because the labor is over. Is she thinking that she'll never go through it again? If so, she's wrong - we need at least two possible heirs...

The next day they hire a nanny so they can both go to work and get one last promotion for the week. Nannies are usually pretty good with babies, in my experience; it's toddlers that suffer. This one actually takes care of Veronica. Of course, it isn't long before the nanny does what nannies do best...

"There's a fire?" She was too busy changing diapers, cuddling the baby, and putting her back in the crib, so by the time she realized there was something wrong, the fireman was already there. This nanny must be deaf and blind. I don't think we'll be using her again...

Hey, let's take a look at the firefighter to see if he's a potential candidate. Hmmm, no - not pretty enough for the Malory family, not ugly enough for the Beauregards.

By the way, why do all firefighters have red hair? Is it supposed to be symbolic of fire, or something? ;)

Speaking of NPCs, doesn't this maid look very familiar? Sigh, I hoped a deleteallcharacters would help get rid of the same old faces... But they just keep coming back.

Let's get back to the Beauregard family. It's birthday time!

Oh yeah, she definitely got her father's jaw. Not with all the goodwill in the world could I call this toddler cute. Hey Miranda, don't look so sad - you married the guy! You wanted to have his baby!

She's a good mother, though. She constantly rolled up wants to play with the baby, and when she became a toddler, Miranda immediately wanted to teach her all her skills. (Although she doesn't like dirty diapers, but then who does...) Aidan was too busy stargazing to have anything to do with that aspect of parenthood.

She's a smart kid, little Veronica. Learns to walk and talk and go potty in no time. And as you can see, by now they actually have a house, with more than one room. All those promotion bonuses helped.

More on the Beauregards later, after we've paid a visit to the Malory house!

Abraham

The time has come to introduce the founder of the other half of the double legacy. Be warned: he's ugly. Very ugly. Extremely ugly. Playing with sliders is fun!

Abraham Malory is a fortune sim, Pisces, and just like Miranda he has most of his personality points in active. (For the same reason, too. I hate when my sims sleep for ages because they only have cheap beds.) His turn-ons are fitness and make-up, and he dislikes stink. He's also something as unexpected as a fortune sim who hates to talk about money. He's much more interested in the paranormal, politics, and even fashion.

Are you ready to see his face?

Forget unibrows, this man has a uni-EYE! With an enormous nose dividing it, too. Let's take a look from the side, as well.

Oh my. That nose. Those ears. And notice the teeth sticking out the side of his cheek, because there's not enough room in his mouth. What can I say? He's meant to be hideous, and I do believe he's a success.

He really wants to be a doctor - doctors make lots of money, don't they? - but there was no opening in the medical career, so he joined the police force for now. Pays well at the lower levels, and has two out of three skills in common with medicine, so that's all good. But of course the job didn't start until Tuesday (I think they did it that way on purpose) and Abe was desperate to make some money, so he headed downtown to do a stint as a barista.

In the background, you may notice Miranda flirting with Jace over by the swings.

Abe works hard, makes friends, gains skill points, and by the end of the week he's a desk sergeant, level four of the law enforcement career. He's bought some of the things he keeps rolling up wants for, but he's still dreaming of the day when he won't need to depend on money trees anymore...

Well, that should be a lot easier once he gets to ask someone to move in with him, so lets take a look at prospective wives.

Lisa Nanale is a hostess. I'm so used to the elderly hosts that I was surprised to see an adult in that position. Lisa is a knowledge sim, who has one bolt with Abe.

Oh, look, she also has one of those extreme personalities. I can never quite remember whether the ones who do this when admired have 10 outgoing, or 0 nice points, but I know it's one of them.

This is Autumn Boyle, a DJ. She's a family sim and has two bolts with Abraham. Once again there's that family sim dilemma - love them, but there's not really enough money to support lots of kids...

She is crazy about Abe, though. For some reason, I find this picture very disturbing. Maybe it's the fact that his face is so much longer than hers. His nose is almost as big as an ordinary sim's entire face!

Meet Cassidy Tsvirkunov, another family sim. Sheesh. She has one bolt for Abe. Definitely pretty.

And finally, Nicole Curtin the maid. A three-bolter! She's a fortune sim, just like Abraham, and says she finds his blond hair very attractive. Well, I guess it's a lot more attractive than his face...

Time to vote again. Which lady should be forced to have babies with Abe's genes? The polls will stay open until I post the next update for Miranda's family.
